Adrienne Powell (cq), 32, center left, leans her head on her daughter, Michelle Knight (cq), 13, left, after a hard day of work while staying on the family floor of the Samaritan House in Denver, Colo., on Saturday, May 14, 2005. Her two sons, DeShawn Joyce (cq), 9, center right, and Michael Knight (cq), 13, right, play video games before going to sleep. They have been at the shelter for 3 months. Adrienne was paroled from prison on motor vehicle theft and went to the shelter with her four children. Adrienne was in prison for 9 months while her mother took care of her children. Adrienne works as a certified nursing assistant about 40 hours a week. She is trying to save money for an apartment and hopes to move out of the shelter in a month or two. "I Hope to get my own place so me and my kids can live together," said Powell. "This has been an experience I've learned from. Now I know how people who don't have anything feel." "I am working hard so I can be with my kids," Powell added. (CHRIS SCHNEIDER/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) ** Adrienne Powell (cq), Michelle Knight (cq), DeShawn Joyce (cq), Michael Knight (cq)
