Dr. Ted Eigner (cq, far right), Dr. Jerry Price (cq, center) and Dr. Lynn White (cq, far left) prepare a patient for robotic surgery in an operating room at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver on Tuesday June 21, 2005.The hospital purchased the $1.2 million da Vinci system from Intuitive Surgical out of Sunnyvale, Ca. and has been using the system to perform surgeries that require far less time to recover from because the incisions required for surgery are much smaller and less invasive. Patients typically can be released from the hospital in a day or two instead of a week with conventional surgery. Intuitive Surgical account manager Megan Mescher (cq) of Boulder said, "this is the future of surgery, no doubt about it". Eigner is a urologist at the hospital, Price is a retired general surgeon who helps out with the robotic surgeries and White is an anesthesiologist. They were performing Robotic Pyeloplasty surgery. The roboit is put into place after the probes are inserted in the patient. (MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) CQ Megan Mescher, Ted Eigner, Jerry Price and Lynn White
