Kansas Anthropological Association volunteer Sue Hagerman (far right, cq) of Goodland, Ks. sorts through some tiny bits of material left after sifting some soil at Site 105 in the Kanorado Locality one afternoon. Archaeologists from Denver and Kansas are unearthing mammoth and camel bones, some dating back to almost 13,000 years old, at an ancient campsite near Kanorado, Kan. on June 16, 2005 that may represent the earliest evidence of humans on the Great Plains. Archaeologists and volunteers are excavating three separate sites at the spot near the Colorado and Kansas border.
