At Emily Griffith Opportunity School, in Denver, Don Kellnhofer, 56 teaches upholstery. He poses with a chair as his student Shanna Vigil, 33, works on her chair in the background. Masons, upholsterers, painters and carpenters. They are among the artisans who build Colorado's most beautiful homes and furnish them. Working with their hands, they are willing to endure years of training and low pay to do what they love most - create beauty.
