U.S. Forest Service employee Gary Roper (cq) ,front, takes a core sample from a 150 year old Englemann spruce tree west of the Ophir Creek campground in the San Isabel Forest in the Wet Mountains on June 27, 2007. Fellow FS employee Roy Mask (cq) checks the tree for disease and spruce beetles. The tree was one of hundreds blown down June 6, 2007. The Forest Service is evaluating and mitigating the area for safety, and spruce beetles infestation. Road FS 369 to access the Greenhorn Wilderness area will continue to be blocked for several more weeks until trees on the road and widow makers in public access are can be cut.
