Denver Police Chief Gerald Whitman listens to one of his specialists ask a question during a weekly meeting with the district commanders to go over the trends and what they are doing, Thursday, December 13, 2007, in the District 3 station. Over the past year, Denver police have ramped up to having at least one civilian crime analyst attached to every district. The analyst, overnight if need be, is tasked with pinpointing crime trends in the district so that district commanders can throw resources at those problems. The analysts also need to work with beat cops to find trends. (JUDY DEHAAS/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) **Gerald Whitman (known)
