(4/16/2005, DENVER, CO.) Levi, 20, went to North High School for his freshman year and transferred out because of problems with gangs to Skyview in Thorton, which did not work out either. After repeating his senior year two times he decided that he would get his GED through Urban Peak and graduated. He wants to get into either Metro or CU and get a degree in business management. For the 6th year, The Spot, Urban Peak Denver, The Community College of Denver, the GED Institute and The Adams Mark Hotel celebrate the educational accomplishments of homeless and urban youth who have earned their GED. This year, over 60 youth will walk away in cap and gown with their diploma in hand. In Denver, 24% of young people fail to earn a high school diploma. Urban Peak Denver and The Spot, offer young people the opportunity to learn and excel at their own pace. Youth will participate in a traditional graduation ceremony complete with caps, gowns and graduation rings. (Photo by Judy Walgren/ ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
