(ALAMOSA shot on 3/31/05) Denise Davis, left of frame, looks in as the group continue their lab experiment, Michele Mascarenas (cq Michele Mascarenas from subject), center with black shirt and gold neckchain, and Tawnya Webber (cq Twanya Webber from subject) orange hat, right of frame. Dr. Benita Brink's Molecular Biology Lab Class has 9 students pursuing isolating plasmids from transformed cells with ambition to clone genes to make bacteria glow in the dark. Adams State College off highway 160 downtown has a small student body of approximately 2,500 but an ambition to make every student feel like they can graduate and become something important. The school has gone above and beyond to make it possible for all students to attend without increases overwhelming other colleges. Small class size and ambitious students from around the state make the ambition a pleasant reality. (Photo by STEVEN R. NICKERSON / ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
