(DENVER, CO. 5/26/04) Center for Studies in Clinical Excellence conducts testing for medical students and residents using actors who fake different illnesses in clinical settings. This type of "realistic training" is becoming more and more important as the National Board of Medical Examiners now requires medical school graduates to take a virtual patient exam before they get their license. Patient/Actor Donahue Hayes, playing Tom Adams, who has acute abdominal pain, is seen by Brendan Essary, a CU Medical School graduate who is in the transitional program and is headed to the northeast to finish his studies.
