Terry O'Connor, (cq) VP of External & Regulatory Affairs for shell Exploration and Production examines some shale at the 2 1/2 acre Shell Mahogany Research project in Rio Blanco County in western Colorado near Rifle, Co. Thursday afternoon April 7, 2005. Research is being done that may resurrect the shale oil industry. Shell is developing a new technology that involves putting giant electric heaters into 2,000 foot holes, and slowly heating them for two years.
