(ALAMOSA shot on 3/31/05) Breann Speicher, (cq Breann Speicher from subject) Design Director, handles tie duties for actor Derek Yorek (cq Yorek from subject) Adams State College Xperimental Theatre (cq Xperimental Theatre from professor John Taylor, 719-587-7827) present Shakespeare's R and J. This is from the backstage to the curtain call. Nerves were on edge in this interesting vision of a traditional play. Directed by Michael E. Kallsen, this production opened March 29 and has only 4 actors. All four are students at the school. Two are athletic team players, football and cross country, and show up because theatre is in their blood. Adams State College off highway 160 downtown has a small student body of approximately 2,500 but an ambition to make every student feel like they can graduate and become something important. The school has gone above and beyond to make it possible for all students to attend without increases overwhelming other colleges. Small class size and ambitious students from around the state make the ambition a pleasant reality. (Photo by STEVEN R. NICKERSON / ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
