A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Wednesday showed 37 percent of registered Democrats would vote for U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., as their 2008 nominee; 22 percent named Obama; 14 percent named former vice president and 2000 presidential nominee Al Gore, who hasn't declared candidacy; and 12 percent backed 2004 vice presidential nominee John Edwards.
