(DENVER, CO., April 6, 2005) Josefina Armendariz (cq) listens as Colorado Attorney General John Suthers (cq) announced at a press conference Wednesday, April 6, 2005 that a Larimer County murder fugitive, Manual Enrique Muela-Luna (cq), was sentenced to 27 years and 6 months in a Mexican federal prison for the murder of Josefina's son, Luis Armendariz (cq), in 1992 when he was 18. The Attorney General's Foreign Prosecutions Unit filed an "Article IV prosecution" case with the Mexican Attorney General's Office. Article IV of the Mexican Federal Penal Code provides that Mexico can prosecute certain crimes committed in the U.S. by Mexican nationals if the suspect is currently living in Mexico.
