(Byers, Colo., April 28, 2004) A rehabilitated one-year- old Golden Eagle was released near Byers Wednesday morning by Birds of Prey Foundation founder and director Sigrid Noll Ueblacker. The eagle was found last August by Rose and Clayton Sword with a fractured femur, and was later discovered to be suffering with the west nile virus. The bird was rehabilitated at the Birds of Prey Foundation in Broomfield. The bird is now fully recovered and was released in memory of Marlys Bulander, a Fish and Wildlife Service employee who recently died of cancer. Ms. Bulander was well respected as a tireless worker for the rehabilitation of migratory birds, especially raptors. In this photo, Sigrid Noll Ueblacker releases the eagle on the property of Rose and Clayton Sword near Byers where the injured bird was found by them last August. Hal Stoelzle/ ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
