(DENVER, Co. - SHOT 3/16/2005) A bottle of blended whiskey sits abandoned and forgotten on the lawn at Civic Center Park one afternoon in the shadow of the City and County Building. A homeless person later walked by and picked it up. Denver is working on a plan to turn Civic Center Park into a destination point in downtown Denver by possibly connecting it to the 16th Street Mall and perhaps even burying part of Colfax Avenue to make the whole area more pedestrian friendly. The ambitious plan calls for reviving the area around the park that has largely become a haven for drug dealers and users and the homeless. The city hopes to make the park an entertainment center with food stands, concerts, film series and other attractions. (Photo by MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
