(DENVER, Colo., January 19, 2005) Dave Wright, the electrical foreman for a new building for G.A. Wright Marketing, Inc., run by his brother, Gary Wright, the CEO, carries an American flag on the roof for a "topping off" ceremony. The building is at 10325 East 47th Ave., in the Stapleton Business Center, near Havana and 47th. The ceremony commemorates the completion of the exterior structure of the new facility, and includes the placing of a fir tree at the top of the building (which in this case was already in place before the ceremony). The Wright brothers, Gary and Dave, secured the American flag to brackets next to the tree, while construction workers and other employees watched from below. According to the press release, the traditional "topping off" ceremony dates back to around 700 AD, when Scandinavians replanted a fir tree in newly completed structures to mollify the forest gods, from which trees have been taken to build the structure.
