(5/5/05, Denver, CO) For the past six years, Dan Medina has been the community liason for Lincoln High School. He is from the neighborhood around the school, has had two children graduate from there, two in school there right now, and two on their way. When her first arrived, gangs controlled the hallways and dealers sold drugs openly inside the building. They have turned the school around 180 degrees. Dan shakes hands with student Isaiah, who thanked Dan for helping him get into a smaller alternative school which they both feel will help him finish high school ontime. Dan feels strongly that large high schools are not for everyone and he is very helpful placing students in environments he feels would be more conducive to their success rather them keeping them in an environment that will set them up to fail.
