Lea Vigil (cq), 18, is the Prom Queen for Centennial High School for 2004/2005. She has lived in Chama, Colorado her whole life and has gone to the one building school in San Luis, ten miles away, since she was in the Head Start class years ago. Lea will attend Adams State College in Alamosa this fall to study accounting. She received a scholarship for full tuition and fees for her first semester for being the Spud Bowl Queen Candidate from Centennial. "In ten years, I want to be working at a bank and living in New York City. The farthest away I have ever been so far is Albuquerque and Denver. I think I will be married and have one kid. But I want to go to college first, get a job and get situated first." "If I could change one thing in the world today I would stop the war in Iraq. They are just fighting to be on top. They should just try and get along, then we would all be a lot happier. It is all because of Bush. I wish I had been old enough to vote." "The main thing that has helped me to succeed is that my parents and sister have encouraged me and pushed me to be all I can be. My mom always told me that I can do anything I put my mind to. My sister is a success and she wants us both to be successful sisters, to take care of our parents and to not have to struggle. I want to be successful. I want people to say, "She succeeded, she did it." I have tried hard to make it this far and I am not going to give up now. It is only the beginning."
