(4/5/05, Denver, CO) Dan Medina find a student hiding in a stairwell instead of sitting in a classroom. He radios Luis Llanas, his partner, to look up the student's attendance records. Once he finds that the teen has been ditching, he takes him to a women who will call his parents and send him home for the day. For the past six years, Dan Medina has been the community liason for Lincoln High School. He is from the neighborhood around the school, has had two children graduate from there, two in school there right now, and two on their way. When her first arrived, gangs controlled the hallways and dealers sold drugs openly inside the building. They have turned the school around 180 degrees. (PHOTO BY JUDY WALGREN, ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
