(VAIL, CO Shot on 4/18/05) Wig Klawiter (cq) of Greeley makes his way down a hill on a snowmobile at the Vail Pass Summit area Monday in the White River National Forest. Klawiter was out riding with his two sons. National Forest areas in Colorado , like in the rest of the nation, are facing budget shortfalls and as a result the upkeep and maintenance of those areas is expected to be cut back by the end of the year. Officials are considering closing some campsites and trails because they can no longer afford to maintain them. The White River National Forest near Vail Summit Pass is a popular winter recreation site and the snowmobile trails are groomed throughout the winter by the Forest Service. Specific sites and services that will be cut or closed have not yet been identified. (Photo by MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
