(1/17/05, Kaalapet, India) Kuppurasu, 38, a fisherman, lost his boat due to damage from the tsunami, and all of his nets. He also lost his entire house. He says he has not slept in 22 days and still has horrible nightmares. The Dalit Freedom Network group left Chennai, India, headed for Pondicherry, where they quickly checked into the Anandha Inn, ate lunch with their Indian co-workers and then hit the road again for Kaalapet to work in the medical camp that OM had set up. The village lost 17 people in the tsunami and the devestation was not as bad as in other places, but Samson George from OM felt like it was a good place for the Americans to get grounded in their work before moving onto more affected areas in two days.
