(1/17/05,Kaalapet, India) Nanci Ricks works on a stroke victim in a nearby village. German aid workers summoned Nancy to come and check on a man who had a broken jaw and had not eaten for three weeks. When she got there she found that there was no one fitting that description, but there was this old man that needed help, so help him she did. The Dalit Freedom Network group left Chennai, India, headed for Pondicherry, where they quickly checked into the Anandha Inn, ate lunch with their Indian co-workers and then hit the road again for Kaalapet to work in the medical camp that OM had set up. The village lost 17 people in the tsunami and the devestation was not as bad as in other places, but Samson George from OM felt like it was a good place for the Americans to get grounded in their work before moving onto more affected areas in two days.
