(BYERS, CO., DECEMBER 30, 2004) I photographed these dry sunflowers in Byers, Colorado on December 30, 2004. The harsh noon light made for not so interesting shadows when looking through my viewfinder from above the flowers. My solution was to study the shape of the flower and its shadows. I found that shooting from the bottom up made the shadows look like they accented the flowers curves. Picture taken with a DIH ISO 250 at f14 at 1/125. (Photo By MARIA J. AVILA/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
