(LAKEWOOD, Colo., October 5, 2004) Spectators seemed to outnumber the soldiers as they stood line readying for the handing out of ammunition before the big battle. Red Rocks Community College, 13300 W. 6th Avenue, held a Civil War Reenactment within its 2nd annual Civil War Day. The event was sponsored by the RRCC Veteran's Club and featured the skirmish between the Union and Confederate troop re-enactors from the Company D 1st Colorado Volunteers Infantry (union) and 1st Lousiana Wheat's Special Batallion (confederate). In addition, the day long expose had dressed soldiers speaking of details of "then" in a "now" kinda setting. Students of the school came down and asked questions and acted surprised as information, formerly unknown, was disseminated. (Photo by STEVEN R NICKERSON / ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
