A student ballplayer at the Juego del Sol School near Playa del Carmen in Mexico practices lobbing the ball through a stone ring that bears an image of the Mayan Feathered Serpent deity K'uk'ulkan. To the ancient Mayan, the Feathered Serpent represented the union of heaven and Earth and also time as reflected in the passage of the sun.
