Cleophus Eugene Johnson 01/10/57 who has used other aliases in the past including the day Aurora Officers arrested him, was sentenced to serve 111 years for several sex crimes committed in the state of California. He began his 111-year sentence in the San Luis Obispo Men's Prison until transferred to the Atascadero State Hospital located in California. Cleophus Johnson was discovered missing by prison officials during the morning hours of August 15, 1993, and suspect he may have escaped through air conditioning vents within the prison. Officers Kit Greenbaum and Chris Carlton of the Aurora Police Department, while working the "weed and seed program" on October 2, 2004, discovered a person registered to a motel in the 11700 block of East Colfax Avenue had an Aurora Municipal warrant for his arrest but were not able to locate the person while at the motel. The following evening (10/03/04) the officers returned to the motel, this time contacting the male at his motel room. The male who used the name of "Rashawn Lee Mack" during the contact, was transported to the Aurora Detention Center where he was processed and identified as Cleophus Eugene Johnson wanted on the escape warrant.
