(FOUNTAIN, Co., SHOT 10/2/2004) The Lake County Panthers make their way through the cheering crowd and back onto the field after halftime, at which point they were down 42-0, against the Salida Spartans during Lake County's Homecoming Game at Lake County High School in Leadville, Co. Lake County plays 2A football on a field that is nearly 2 miles above sea level, the highest football field in the world. The elevation hasn't really been a home field advantage for the Panthers though as they are off to an 0-5 start on the season and first year coach Harrison Chisum admits he is trying to build some semblence of a football tradition at the school. The team only had 12 kids come out for the football team the previous year and the team was forced to play a junior varsity schedule. Lake County was down 42-0 and ended up losing the game 42-28. Coach Chisum was happy with the team's second half performance because they hadn't scored a touchdown on offense in four games. (Photo by MARC PISCOTTY / ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
