Rocky Mountain News clipping featuring the 1954 Denver University football team as they prepare for a game on Thanksgiving. Four distinguished individuals and the 1954 football team were inducted to the University of Denver Athletic Hall of Fame in a ceremony at the Marriott City Center in downtown Denver Thursday, Oct. 22, 2007. The 1954 football team is widely considered the greatest in DU history, as it captured the 1954 Skyline Conference Championship with a 9-1 record, the final championship in school history and first since 1917. DU's 9-1 mark is the best 10-game mark ever and tied the school record for wins and the team broke seven school records, including yards rushing (2528 yards), total offense (3719 yards), and fewest yards allowed (1886 yards).
