Several people representing non-profits, protest groups and private parties lined up to seek permits to hold events on city property during the Democratic National Convention in August. The Rev. Patrick Mahoney (cq) (at center), an anti-abortion protester, who uses graphic signs to get his message across, hoped to be first in line. Instead his ticket read #10, as the first person in line, Johnny Maguina (cq) (at far right), representing Newsed Community Development Corporation had been standing in line since 3:00 am today. Most parks near the convention center will be unavailable, but the department hasn't released anything about this yet. (JAVIER MANZANO/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) Johnny Maguina (cq) Patrick Mahoney (cq)
