A Denver Police Department officer (at left) sits at a table at the Denver Elections Comission building along with members of the SWAT team (background) to help count the ballots for the mill levy and bond package. The system apparently crashed and many of the votes had to be re-counted in order to at least come up with the tendency for each bill. Mayor John Hickenlooper expected the count to be completed by morning, so elements of the the Police Department and SWAT teams where pulled off the streets to fill in the gap. Over a dozen police officers and SWAT team members were pitching in. (JAVIER MANZANO / THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
