(BEATRICE, Nebraska, September10, 2004) As the cemetery services concluded and many left, a number of girls dressed in black, many wearing ribbons, knelt graveside and hugged each other. Joe Garner was told the girls in black with ribbons were CSU students and the color of the ribbon was the color of Samantha's eyes. Samantha Spady was laid to rest today at the Evergreen Home Cemetery on the outskirts of town after a funeral service at Centenary United Methodist Church, 6th and Elk Sts. Samantha Spady, 19, was found dead Sunday, September 5, 2004. She was found in a room of the Sigma Pi fraternity house at CSU, Ft. Collins, CO. She had allegedly been involved in an alcohol related one car accident from which she called for assistance and was picked up by and taken back to the fraternity. In her home town this day people who spoke said only very supportive things about the postivie aspects of her past life. She was a cheerleader, homecoming queen and national honor society member.
