(NORTHGLENN, Colo., September 8, 2004) Jimmy McAlliser,16, rolls up one of 4,100 flags assembled by his Northglenn Lutheran High School class for the "Healing Field in Northglenn" event beginning this weekend. From Saturday, Sept. 11 to Sept. 19 , more than 4,100 flags will fly at E.B. Rains Park in Northglenn, Colo., to honor those who have died in the war against terrorism since the Sept. 11 attacks. One flag will fly for every victim of 9/11 and one for every coalition force killed in Afghanistan and Iraq. The memorial will be updated every 24 hours. The event sponsored by the North Metro Fire Rescue hopes to raise money at the event to go towards the purchase of a permanent monument at the Park to be unveiled on the five year anniversary of 9/11.
