Mark Rinkel, cq, 12, started running the stand earlier this month, hoping to raise $6,000 to help cover the cost of a medical assistance dog for his diabetic brother Jason Rinkel, cq, 9. Sunday, his lemonade stand at South Havana Street and East Warren Avenue brought in $3,909. With that money Mark has already raised, $6,000. The dog, which can sense high and low blood sugar levels, can cost upwards of $25,000. A non-profit group offered to cover most of the cost of the dog, but Mark wants to keep raising money, to cover the full amount, by himself. (AHMAD TERRY /ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
