A D9 bulldozer moves some of the millions of tons of dirt on the headwall slope, a beginner slope, at Steamboat Tuesday July 24, 2007. the old headwall lift , in foreground is being removed. It is part of a 16 million dollar facelift on the hill to improve the base area and beginner terrain. The old beginner slope had a nasty double fall line and a mishmash of chairs. Two new lifts, a triple and a six pack and three gentle, smooth, skier friendly slopes will replace those. Its wealthy new owner and a host of other developers are pouring half a billion dollars into revamping the mountain and town to compete with its upscale rivals.
