Dotty Karo,(cq) 82 is the master chef and tastes the mock chopped "liver' that her daughter Cherie Karo Schwartz (cq) (r) and husband Larry Schwartz assembled at Dotty's home on Thursday, September 20, 2007 in Denver, Colo. Cherie cheers whe it is finally just right. This mock chopped "liver" is the dish used to break the fast for the holidays. Yom Kippur starts on Friday at sunset and Jewish families fast for 25 hours until sundown on Saturday. This is when they break their fast and all the food preparation from Thursday will be enjoyed and celebrated with family. (photo by Linda McConnell/Special to the Rocky Mountain News)
