(9/2//04, New York, NY) Frances Owens, Gov. Bill Owens' wife and her Chief of Staff Barb McTurk went to a Habitat For Humanity site in the Bronx Thursday morning. They painted houses that were just about done and then had lunch before heading back to Manhattan. A few people stood across the street with signs asking the President to spend money on affordable housing instead of the military. The people were not protesting Habitat for Humanity, they said, but the President's policy on housing for the poor. Barb takes a rag from Habitat worker Ian Henderson to wipe up paint that Frances saw on the floor. (JUDY WALGREN/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
