COLOV701 - ** FILE ** A bull elk bugles to attract a mate Sept. 23, 2003, in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The courtship among elk is a popular tourist draw in Colorado. The high-pitched mating sound gives proof that Mother Nature rarely reads the calendar, especially in the Rocky Mountains. When September rolls around in the high country, it comes with hints of the changing season, even though fall officially begins on Sept. 22, 2004. Snow has already fallen in the high elevations around Estes Parkand even in the lower mountain valleys in northwest Colorado. (AP Photo/Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald, Douglas Van Reeth)
