DLM1333 Tears well up in the eyes of photojournalism student Jenny LeBlanc as a a speaker talks about the importance of recognizing that it is Mother's Day during the commencement ceremony for Metropolitan State College at the Colorado Convention Center Sunday, May 13, 2007. LeBlanc was crying for her mother, Francine Barnum, who died from colon cancer in October of 2005. For eight months LeBlanc cared for her mother as she battled cancer. During that time she used her camera to help her cope and documented her mother's struggle. By the time of her mother's death she had taken over 3,000 photographs. The pictures became more than a project. They were a way to preserve her mom's memory for LeBlanc's four daughters. (DARIN MCGREGOR/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) **Jenny LeBlanc (cq) **Francine Barnum (john)
