Kenneth Lewis and cousin Ryan have a roped calf brought down with dust flying at Muddy Valley Ranch 30 miles south of La Junta on Wednesday May 9, 2007 in La Junta, Colo. It's spring and it time to brand calves a way of life for cattle ranchers in this area. A way of life that will change if the government has it's way. The Army is planning to expand it's 235,000 acres with an additional 418,000 acres for training. This would change the lives of Otero, Las Animas, Baca, Prowers, Bent and Warfano Counties and thousands of ranchers. The arera would include the Commanche National Grasslands as well.
