After a long morning of branding Kimmi Lewis (r) gets ready to sit with nephew Ryan (c) and husband Marty with Chase and Lars behind them at Muddy Valley Ranch 30 miles south of La Junta on Wednesday May 9, 2007 in La Junta, Colo. Its spring and for cattle ranchers it's branding time and a way of life for generation. All this could change if the governmnent has their way. The Army is planning to expand it's 235,000 acres with an additional 418,000 acres for training. This would change the lives Otero, Las Animas, Baca, Prowers, Bent and Warfano Counties and thousands of ranchers. The arera would include the Commanche National Grasslands as well.
