From the book: Denver a Pictorial History by, William C. Jones and Kenton Forrest On May 17, 1904, voters approved a bond issue for the construction of a new municipal auditorium. Soon after completion in 1908, the Democratic National Convetion opened that July. The unusual feature of the auditorium was its ability to be converted from a 3,300 seat theater to a 12,000 seat hall as seen in this photograph. This was made possible by an elaborate system of movable walls.
