(8/25/2004, Denver, CO) Research conducted in the Loch Vale area of the Rocky Mountain National Park by USGS Scientist Jill Baron and her crew has found evidence that nitrogen compounds from Front Range tailpipes, power plants, crop fields and feed lots has altered the subalpine forest and alpine tundra in the park's Loch Vale watershed. She is shown here at her CSU Microbiology lab. (PHOTO BY JUDY WALGREN/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
