NYT17 - (NYT17) STERLING, Va. -- August 22, 2004 -- INTERNET-WIRETAP -- Tom Kershaw, an executive for VeriSign in Sterling, Va., on Thursday, August 12, 2004. Whatever Internet phone companies are required to do to make wiretapping possible, the bill will be paid by customers, said Kershaw of VeriSign, which provides surveillance support. Earlier this month, the Federal Communications Commission voted unanimously to move forward with rules that would compel these businesses to make it possible for law enforcement agencies to eavesdrop on Internet calls.
