(GEORGETOWN, Co., SHOT 8/11/2004) About 35 members of the Denver Rescue Mission's "New Life" rehabiliatation program climbed to the more than 14,000 foot peak of Mount Bierstadt near Georgetown, Co. Wednesday. Resting at the summit of Mount Bierstadt after lunch, (from left to right) Andrew Muhs, 29; Robert Hernandez (sitting), 28; Nathan Whitfield, 25; and Jeff Tatum, 20, relax in the sun as storm clouds start to gather. Hernandez, who had never climbed a mountain before, said, "this is one of the best experiences of my life", adding, "it's a beautiful new life". The "New Life" program is a long term Christian based recovery program that gives the men involved the tools to become self-sufficient and overcome various addictions. The climb helps the men to set a goal and achieve it and is part of the program. (Photo by MARC PISCOTTY / ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
