A small herd of elk lounge on a front lawn of a home in Estes Park on Thursday February 8, 2007. As one local resident put it, "they're pretty but they sure can be a pain in the butt at times". Elk in Rocky Mountain National Park have moved to lower elevations during the winter months in search of food and shelter often times invading the nearby town of Estes Park. The Colorado Department of Wildlife and the National Park Service are looking at various options to reduce the Elk herd population in the park because they are overrunning the park and damaging vegetation.
