Storage tanks on the site of Sterling Ethanol LLC facility in Sterling, Colo Sept. 20, 2006. Near by Yuma county produces the second largest amount of corn in the United States resulting in Colorado's Eastern Plains farmers finding that they can make more money switching their crops from animal feed to production of Ethanol. A group of farmers in Sterling including Kramer formed a co-op and have a $60 million plant up and running and a second one in Yuma County under construction.
