(DENVER, Colo., Aug 6, 2004) Nicholas Tam,10, left in stripes and jeans, puts a plastic poncho over his head as rain began while they walked out of City Park toward Colfax St. The St. Isidore Mother Cabrini Shrine Pilgrimage of Thanksgiving continues today. A statue of St. Francis Cabrini atop a wheeled cart also carrying a pair of military boots provided by US Army 1st Cavalry's 425th Civil Affairs Battalion soldier Major Joseph Maguire, stationed in Baghdad, Iraq was pushed along a pilgrimage route heading toward a final destination of Cabrini Shrine in Golden, CO. "He walked with us on our last pilgrimage and was not able to be with us this year. His boots are our way of showing a memory to him and all the soliders fighting and who have passed away during the Iraq war, said Brother Alphonsus O'Maille (cq Alphonsus O'Maille from subject on walking route).The group of 40-50 people from St. Isidore parish, Watkins, CO are making the 50 mile trek together over two days.
