Team Idaho snow sculptor Bill Dow (cq), of Billings, Mont. chips away at a huge block of snow at the 17th Budweiser Select International Snow Sculpture Championships got under way Tuesday January 23, in Breckenridge. Fourteen teams from five foreign countries and nine teams from across the United States have 65 hours to transform their 12 foot tall and 20 ton heavy block of man-made snow into a work of art before this Saturday's judging. The sculptures will remain on display in Breckenridge until Sunday February 4, 2007 weather permitting. Dow and his teammates were roughing in the shape of a giant horseshoe with a number of smaller horses under it. (MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) CQ Bill Dow
