Master german framer Helmut Elbs directs a beam to it's destination on the roof of Mary Ellen Vaughan's (cq) house on the 3rd day of assembly of the pre-fabricated house in Fourmile Canyon in Boulder on January 4, 2006. The house will be completed in 4-5 days. The parts were shipped here from Germany. Elbs is wearing a uniform that identifies his profession as a "zimmerman" in Germany. Story is about large, incredibly well-built homes shipped in from Germany because they have much higher energy-efficiency standards over there (thicker glass and walls, etc) and their craftsmanship is very high quality. They even bring in German home builders (clad in traditional craftsman's garb) to put the thing up. The house is made by Platz.
