Annette Roberts Gray (cq) a potter, imprints the name of a fallen soldier on a memorial vase in her Glenwood Springs studio, Wednesday January 3, 2007. She began making the vases - one for each soldier killed in Iraq - two years ago and has made 900 so far. She's not sure she can finish the project. " I've become emotionally attached to the project. It's hard to distance myself from the numbers but at some point I need to bring it to an end," she said. Originally she thought the number would total 1500 vases . Now the death toll has climbed to over 3000. Each vase contains the name of the soldier, insignia of branch of service , and the age they were when they died.
